SOCIAL RUN CLUBS IN MARSEILLE

Founded in June 2024 by Adrien Barrau and Loïc Juillet, GRC – Gâtés Running Club is a Marseille-based, volunteer-led running collective that promotes accessible, social running. The club emphasises conviviality, inclusivity and being free to join: no mandatory membership fees and no imposed timing or performance. They run weekly social runs on weekdays and organise longer weekend runs; practical details (exact days, times and meeting points) are not published publicly on the sites examined. Frontrunners Marseille is Marseille’s first LGBTQIA+ sports association (founded December 2002). The club promotes integration, visibility, tolerance and mutual support through sport, offering activities open to all regardless of gender, sexual orientation, origin or age. It is approved by the French Ministry of Youth and Sports and affiliated with the Fédération Sportive LGBT+ and FSGT. The club runs year-round sessions (leisure runs, technical/interval training, trail/nature runs) and organises social and community events (monthly apéros, seasonal sporting weekends, biennial multi-sport tournament GSM).

Maison Mère Running Club (MMRC) is a Marseille-based running community founded by the owner of the vintage sportswear shop Maison Mère. Formally registered as an association (loi 1901) on 4 December 2024 with headquarters at 5 Rue Chevalier Roze, 13002 Marseille. MMRC blends running with street culture and local identity, organising casual seaside and urban runs and social meetups (coffee after) anchored around the Maison Mère shop. The club maintains an active Instagram presence (~5,500 followers) and coordinates participants via a WhatsApp group; the club invites people to DM or click the bio link to join the team.
