HOW IT WORKS

Your running pace is simply your time divided by the distance you covered: pace = time ÷ distance. Run 10 km in 50 minutes and your pace is 5:00 per kilometre. This calculator does the maths instantly and shows the result in both minutes per kilometre and minutes per mile, plus your speed in km/h and mph.

Pace (min/km) is what most runners track on a watch — a lower number means you’re moving faster. Speed (km/h) is the same effort expressed the way a treadmill shows it. We give you both so you never have to convert in your head.

The equivalent race times for 5K, 10K, half marathon and marathon are predicted with the Riegel formula (T₂ = T₁ × (D₂ ÷ D₁)^1.06). The 1.06 exponent models the natural slowdown over longer distances, so the predictions are realistic rather than assuming you hold the exact same pace forever. They’re most accurate within about double the distance you entered and assume similar training and conditions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Running pace is your time divided by the distance you ran. For example, running 10 km in 50 minutes gives a pace of 5:00 per kilometre. Enter your distance and time above and the calculator works it out instantly in both min/km and min/mile.
